Leaning Wall Shelf with Drawers [ the Pros & Cons ]

Leaning Wall Shelf with Drawers

Do you want a modern loft-style bookcase or shelving unit with a unique angled design? Check out the “Colella” leaning wall shelf with drawers.

This simple wall shelf takes up minimal floor space and won’t overcrowd a room. Yet, at the same time this very functional piece of furniture can provide significant storage space right where you need it.

Not to mention, the slanted design of this contemporary bookshelf can upgrade the look of a space without even having anything on it! I mean, it definitely gets you attention, right?

How is this Leaning Wall Shelf Different?

1. You Get Covered Storage

First of all, I like the Colella because it gives you closed storage with the drawers. Therefore, if you aren’t a neat freak and simply want to throw stuff in a drawer sometimes, you can.

It also adds to the minimalistic design by minimizing clutter. Not to mention, the drawers give this shelving unit a more upscale look.

For example, in a bathroom, you can store extra toilet paper in the drawers while displaying plants and colorful towels on the open shelves.

2. Gain More Storage Space

Second, this unit only sticks out from the wall 16 1/2 inches. Yet, it measures almost 3 feet wide.

In other words, you can store more items that you typically could with other narrower shelving units.

This additional storage capacity can come in handy in areas like a front entryway, home office or family room.

In fact, I think that the Colella works great as a mini mudroom. You could even use 2 side-by-side if space allows.

Keep in mind that the wider design may not work as well in a small spaces like a bathroom.

3. Leaning Shelf has a Sturdier Design

Third, I think that the drawer component of this piece adds weight and therefore sturdiness to the tall structure. Plus, the wider shape helps it stay solidly in place against the wall.

What I Don’t Like About the Colella:

Close Up of Wood Grain on Leaning Wall Shelf

I like the authentic and rustic look of real wood. However, it costs significantly more than manmade wood-look material.

This leaning shelf is constructed of engineered wood (MDF) with a wood-grain laminate finish.

Although the material has plenty of strength, moisture can negatively affect the material. Therefore, you don’t want to use this shelving unit outside.

Note: The manufacturer added the outer laminate finish to protect this piece from water. So, you can use it in a bathroom or laundry room without a problem.
